You may get lucky and find a Rare Helmet with 305 Defense which you can use to infuse your Exotic Helmet to make it more powerful – now your Exotic Hemlet has a 305 Defense value. Perhaps you’ve got a Exotic Helmet with 290 Defense and 3 perks you find very useful. ![]() In particular at later levels you will find that Rare/blue weapons & armor can have quite high attack and defense values making them very useful for infusing your gear with better perks & stats. ![]() Some lower rarity gear can be more useful than higher rarity gear. Generally speaking the higher the rarity, the better the gear. For other pieces of gear rarity indicates overall how commonly you will find it, and things such as power, protection offered or speed – depending upon the item. For jumpships rarity is currently meaningless. Destiny gear rarity tells how common or rare your gear is – weapons, armor, Ghost Shells, etc.
